Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp could be the next big name to move at his position before the 2024 NFL trade deadline.

The athleteDianna Russini reported On Tuesday, the team is calling potential trade partners to finalize a deal for the former Super Bowl MVP.

Russini added that the team wants a second-round pick in return and is willing to take on a portion of Kupp’s 2024 salary to facilitate a trade.

As you can imagine, there will almost certainly be genuine interest around the league in signing a player of Kupp’s caliber for a playoff push.

Let’s break down five teams that could very well make a deal for Kupp before the November 5th trade deadline.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers suffered a brutal game against the Baltimore Ravens at wide receiver on Monday night. The team was expected to lose wide receiver Chris Godwin for the remainder of the season, and wide receiver Mike Evans suffered a serious hamstring injury that could sideline him for a while. For Tampa Bay to maintain its offensive momentum, adding a wide receiver via trade is almost necessary.

Kupp knows the Buccaneers’ offense, as Tampa Bay’s Liam Cohen was his offensive coordinator with Los Angeles in 2022. The Buccaneers could lose Godwin to free agency next spring, so having Kupp for the ride to 2024 makes perfect sense.

This move makes too much sense for the Bucs. They must be the favorites.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs desperately need help from a wide receiver and Kupp would be the perfect solution for the team. The Rams wideout knows what it takes to win a Super Bowl, and he would likely befriend quarterback Patrick Mahomes in an instant.

While Kupp’s injury history might give Kansas City a little pause considering how tenacious they have been at the position, signing a player of Kupp’s caliber in general at this point in the season could make up for it.

The draft pick is likely an afterthought for the Chiefs compared to winning their third straight title.

Los Angeles Chargers

Jim Harbaugh needs to get Justin Herbert more help in the passing game. At 3-3, the team’s season is still just around the corner. An AFC wildcard spot is not out of the question.

The trade for Kupp not only gives Herbert the veteran presence in the passing game that he so desperately needs, but also allows the Rams to make a deal with a team outside the NFC.

In addition, Kupp would not have to move in the middle of the season or change the stadium where he plays his home games on Sundays. It’s a win-win situation for both sides, with Herbert being the biggest winner of all involved.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Losing San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk could be a blessing if Pittsburgh can sign a player like Kupp.

The Steelers are 5-2, but the team desperately needs another wide receiver to compliment George Pickens. Kupp would fit right in with what Pittsburgh likes to do offensively, and with Russell Wilson playing quarterback, the Steelers are more likely to pass the ball than they were under Justin Fields.

It’s not hard to imagine Pittsburgh sending a second-round pick to Los Angeles to make a Kupp deal happen.

New England Patriots

Don’t lose sleep on the fact that the Patriots are a contender for Kupp. The team has officially turned the franchise over to quarterback Drake Maye. To maximize Maye’s rookie deal, acquiring quality veterans will be paramount.

The Patriots also offer the Rams the highest second-round pick cap of any other team on this list.

They may not consider New England in this particular scenario, but the team could be willing to invest in Kupp to help Maye’s development. Having a true No. 1 receiver can only help the rookie quarterback in his first NFL games. This isn’t the most likely scenario, but don’t rule it out.
