The perfect trade target for DeAndre Hopkins is now obvious after the serious WR injury

After the Tennessee Titans’ loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Week 7 ended with one Monday Night Football Doppelkopf. One of those games ended with an absolutely gruesome injury and a situation that could put the Titans in the game.

With just under a minute left in Monday night’s game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Baltimore Ravens, wide receiver Chris Godwin fell to the ground and was immediately in a lot of pain.

The live broadcast refused to show a replay, but if you had paid close attention you would have noticed that Godwin’s ankle was obviously broken. This will clearly end Godwin’s season early, but the Bucs’ problems don’t stop there.

Wideout Mike Evans also left the game with a hamstring injury and did not return. Suddenly, Tampa Bay is incredibly thin at the position. Veteran Sterling Shepard is joined by second-year pro Trey Palmer and rookie Jalen McMillan as the top three options in the group, while both Evans and Godwin are sidelined.

While Evans could be back this season, Godwin likely won’t be. And with the Bucs looking like legitimate contenders in the NFC, replacing one of the league’s leading receivers is now high on the priority list. Luckily, there are a few other options after the big trades of Davante Adams and Amari Cooper.

More Titans news:

The Titans are, of course, home to one of those options in DeAndre Hopkins.

Even since last season, Hopkins always seemed to find his name in trade rumors. Although he has expressed his love for Tennessee, we all know he is better off elsewhere as the Titans try to figure out what direction they want to go at quarterback.

Hopkins may not be what he once was, but he can still provide a team with solid veteran leadership and the ability to easily catch the football. His hands are still as good as anyone’s and even though he’s a little more limited at 32, Hopkins can be an effective WR2.

Since he is in the final year of his contract, he is also more affordable for other teams as he can only be rented for a year. That being said, I wouldn’t expect the Titans to get anything more than a late Day 3 pick for him in return. If Tampa Bay somehow offered a fourth-round pick, that would be an automatic “yes” from the Bucs.

However, it’s more likely to be a fifth-round pick or later.

Could we see Hopkins in Tampa Bay sooner rather than later? It’s certainly possible.
