Christian Pulisic scored straight from a corner and 16-year-old Francesco Camarda had the VAR’s heart aching as AC Milan beat Brugge 3-1, ending their wait for a Champions League win while Monaco maintained their unbeaten start.

US striker Pulisic appeared stunned by his performance – known as ‘Olimpico’ – as Milan finally got their first three points after losing their first two games in the new-look format.

Belgium’s Brugge had to play with 10 men for most of the game after Raphael Onyedika was sent off in the 40th minute, but leveled the score in the 51st minute with a goal from Kyriani Sabbe. Tijjani Reijnders later scored twice to give Milan a much-needed win.

Camarda came on as a substitute in the 75th minute, making him the youngest Italian debutant in the Champions League. He briefly thought he had also broken the record as youngest Champions League goalscorer, but his header was ruled offside to end the celebrations.

Elsewhere, Wilfried Singo scored from around 30 meters out to keep Monaco unbeaten with a 5-1 win over Red Star Belgrade.

Singo scored Monaco’s third goal in the 54th minute with a powerful shot into the top left corner, while two more Monaco scorers ended the long wait. Takumi Minamino scored twice after last scoring for Salzburg in the Champions League in 2019, and Breel Embolo scored his first goal in the competition since 2020. Monaco have taken seven points from their first three games.

In the seven games later on Tuesday, defending champions Real Madrid face Borussia Dortmund, a repeat of last season’s final.
