While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost two key pieces of their offense on Monday night, Lamar Jackson was on top of his game on offense and led the Baltimore Ravens to a 41-31 win.

The Ravens are now 5-2 on the year, while the Bucs have fallen to 4-3.

This was the definition of a primetime matchup as Jackson and Baker Mayfield, two quarterbacks who are current MVP candidates, went head-to-head in the Sunshine State.

These quarterbacks combined for a total of eight touchdown passes. It was Jackson who delivered five of them in an incredible performance to bolster his own MVP resume.

Jackson was 17 of 22 through the air for 281 yards and found fellow tight end Mark Andrews twice for a touchdown, while Derrick Henry, Justice Hill and Rashod Bateman also each caught scores of their own from their dynamic quarterback.

Among the Bucs’ key players lost in this game were Mayfield’s two main targets: Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. The latter could be in question for the rest of the season after head coach Todd Bowles revealed early signs that he was suffering from an illness when he dislocated his ankle 43 seconds before the end of the game.

The ESPN broadcast didn’t even show Godwin’s injury, although the initial view showed his ankle pointing the wrong way after Patrick Queen rolled over it during a tackle. He was quickly placed in an air dressing and carted off the field.

Evans, who was already dealing with a hamstring injury Monday night, caught his only touchdown catch on a 25-yard strike and scored the game’s first score on the Bucs’ first drive. But two drives later, he failed to catch another touchdown pass from Mayfield downfield and immediately clutched his right leg after a call from Brandon Stephens, who was also injured on the play.

Evans was quickly eliminated for the rest of the game.

For the Ravens, Zay Flowers was banged up after an 11-yard catch on the Ravens’ first drive, with replay showing he had rolled his ankle. He would only get one score from Jackson that night, but No. 8 distributed the ball to his receivers while dismantling Tampa Bay’s defense to the delight of all Ravens fans.

Bateman needed just four catches to reach a game-high 121 yards with his 49-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Also in the first half, he blasted a 59-yard bomb from Jackson down the field after the quarterback broke free from a busted pocket and told him to take the lead midway through the game.

It also appears that Andrews, Jackson’s trustee tight end from past years, is getting more involved each week as he once again had a solid game with two scores and 41 yards on four catches.

And of course, the NFL’s best rushing offense ensured Henry had another game-high game with 169 yards on the ground and just 15 carries, including an 81-yard dash down the field before being stopped.

However, Mayfield did his best to get back in this game as Jackson and the Ravens offense built a 34-10 lead late in the third quarter.

The Bucs scored 21 points in the fourth quarter when Rachaad White caught two touchdown passes from Mayfield, while fellow running back Bucky Irving also came in from a yard out.

In the end, it was all for naught, and the loss of Godwin, who owns the second-most receiving yards in the NFL this season after adding 65 yards to his 2024 total, and Evans piled on a home loss for a top team in the NFC.

The Ravens are now on a five-game winning streak after starting the year 0-2.
