Hezbollah is hiding millions of gold and cash in hospital, Israel says

Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed terrorism proxy, is hiding $500 million in gold and cash in a secret bunker formerly operated by the group’s late leader beneath a hospital in Beruit, Israeli military officials said Monday.

Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, an Israel Defense Forces spokesman, said the Israeli Air Force was monitoring the vault “deliberately” located under Al-Sahel Hospital, but there were no plans to attack the building.

Israel has targeted the terror group in recent weeks after Hezbollah carried out a year of attacks in northern Israel that forced many people in the region to flee.

“The bunker was intentionally placed under a hospital and contains more than half a billion dollars in cash and gold,” Hagari said. “This money could have been used to rebuild Lebanon, but it went to rebuild Hezbollah.”

The bunker is connected to the hospital and is filled with beds and rooms for extended stays as well as space to direct operations, the IDF said. The IDF also said the site belonged to Hassan Nasrallah, the terror group’s slain leader who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in September.

Hagari appealed to Lebanese officials to contain Hezbollah and inspect the site.

“I appeal to the Lebanese government, the Lebanese authorities and the international organizations: do not allow Hezbollah to use the money for terror and attacks on Israel,” he said.

Fadi Alameh, the hospital’s director, reportedly said the facility was being evacuated.

“You are close to Hezbollah facilities and interests that the Israeli army will target in the near future,” he reportedly wrote on X.

The IDF has accused Hezbollah and Hamas of hiding weapons and housing their terrorist fighters in hospitals, schools and other sensitive locations.

Hagari also explained how Iran transfers money to Hezbollah and how the terror group finances its operations in other ways. Hezbollah’s financial arm, Al-Qard Al-Hasan, provides financial services to Lebanese civilians and pays the salaries of Hezbollah operatives, he said.

The Iranian Quds Force transfers money from Iranian oil sold in Syria to Hezbollah, and the Islamic Republic also sends suitcases of cash and gold by plane to the Iranian embassy in Beirut, which distributes it directly to Hezbollah, the IDF said.
