Jets vs. Steelers first features Louisville native and PRP football graduate Beanie Bishop

Some notable headlines ahead of the Sunday Night Football matchup between the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers included Russell Wilson starting in place of Justin Fields and Davante Adams moving to the Jets and reuniting with Aaron Rodgers.

When the game began, it was a Louisville native who stole the show.

Undrafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers, rookie cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr. recorded the first two interceptions of his NFL career against Rodgers.

Bishop is a Pleasure Ridge Park High School graduate who was a two-star prospect in high school and was the No. 19 recruit in Kentucky for the 2018 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

He began his college career at Western Kentucky before transferring to Minnesota and then West Virginia.

In his final collegiate season at West Virginia, Bishop recorded 67 tackles, four interceptions and led the nation in passes defended (24) and pass breakups (20). He was the second cornerback in program history to be named a consensus All-American.

With the Steelers, Bishop has 19 tackles, four passes defended and two interceptions in seven games.
