NFL Power Rankings: Jets and 49ers continue to fall after recent flops; Lions and Steelers advance to Week 8

With many teams having record wins in Week 7, how does each NFL team stack up against each other in Week 8? Almost halfway through the 2024 season, the haves separate from the have-nots.

There is only one undefeated team left, and it should come as no surprise that it is the reigning Super Bowl champions. The AFC has several familiar contenders, while the NFC has new teams emerging.

Here’s a look at the league as a whole in the final check-in on the race for Super Bowl 59.

NFL Power Rankings Week 8

1. Kansas City Chiefs 6-0 (previous ranking: 1)

The Chiefs are becoming harder to beat because Patrick Mahomes will make his big plays – somehow – make up for mistakes. They also play sharp defense every week. They may not lose for a long time.

2. Detroit Lions 5-1 (3)

The Lions looked sharp again offensively by distributing the ball differently to keep Jared Goff hyper-efficient. They should be considered strong NFC favorites after beating Minnesota.

The Ravens can compete with anyone in the league with their elite running game and Lamar Jackson working on MVP No. 3, but they need to strengthen their pass defense, according to stats.
