PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – The presidential election is just around the corner and starting Monday, people can vote at primary voting locations across Florida.

For Pinellas County Elections Director Julie Marcus, she visited locations around the county to make sure everything was ready for the new voters.

“I want people to know that we are doing everything we can every step of the way to make sure the process is fair and safe,” she said.

From signs on the wall to the voting booths, Marcus checked to see if anything was out of place.

This will happen not just at one early voter location, but at every location available for early voter use in the county.

“Knowing what we’ve been through, Helene and Milton, and the impact it’s had on our community throughout Pinellas County, it’s truly amazing that we’ve been able to maintain our seven early voting sites,” she said.

Helene and Milton have not changed their plans for early voting in Pinellas County, but the effects of the storms are still being felt by those working this election.

On election day, when all polling stations opened, plans changed.

“Poll workers lost their homes, poll workers across the community lost their homes, we lost polling places,” she said.

There were originally supposed to be 168 polling places in Pinellas County for Election Day, but due to damage to some polling places there will now be 156.

The seven early voting locations in Pinellas County will be open October 21 through November 3 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
