The Panthers are adding two to their active roster on Saturday

The team also signed outside linebacker Shaq Lawson and linebacker Shaquille Quarterman from the practice squad for Week 7 at standard height.

Lawson, a former first-round pick from the Bills and Clemson product, adds depth to the pass rush with Jadeveon Clowney questionable for this week. Quarterman helps stabilize the inside linebacker corps with Josey Jewell, Claudin Cherelus and Jon Rhattigan out this week and Shaq Thompson on IR, leaving behind Chandler Wooten and rookie starter Trevin Wallace.

To make room for the moves, the Panthers released veteran cornerback Troy Hill and waived rookie center Andrew Raym on Saturday.

Hill, 33, has been a regular with the team since his arrival last season.

During this time he was used in 22 games and was in the starting line-up five times.

With Jackson’s return, they are fully loaded at the position, and they have also used rookie cornerback Chau Smith-Wade more in recent weeks, and he has also worked in nickel.

Raym, an undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma, appeared in one game on special teams.

The Panthers also downgraded safety Sam Franklin Jr. and defensive tackle Jaden Crumedy to loss for Sunday’s game. They just completed the first week of their 21-day window to return from injured reserve.
