Injury Report: Week 7 vs. Chargers

Darius Robinson will have to wait at least another week to be added to the Cardinals’ 53-man roster. It was an unfortunate start to the rookie campaign for the No. 27 pick in the 2024 draft. The defensive lineman suffered a calf injury before Week 1, and when his practice window opened last week, Robinson was feeling unwell and had yet to practice. Earlier this week, the 23-year-old also posted on social media that his mother had passed away.

“He’s doing his best,” coach Jonathan Gannon said. “We are here to support him and he will get through these difficult times.”

Owen Pappoe will not be with the Cardinals on “Monday Night Football” this week. The linebacker and special teams contributor suffered a hip injury and didn’t practice all week.

Trey Benson was the latest addition to the injury report. The rookie running back did not practice due to illness. Michael Carter could be left off the practice squad if Benson is unable to participate. Benson is listed as questionable, as are offensive lineman Christian Jones (ankle), defensive lineman Roy Lopez (ankle), cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting (neck), linebacker Kyzir White (knee) and cornerback Garrett Williams (groin).

Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has completed the concussion protocol and will play.

The Chargers will be without defensive end Deane Leonard. Outside linebacker Joey Bosa (hip), tight end Hayden Hurst (groin) and wide receiver Quentin Johnston (ankle) are questionable.

Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. ditched the yellow non-contact jersey Friday and wore his standard practice uniform. It’s a positive development as he recovers from the concussion. He was a full participant.

Linebacker Owen Pappoe and defensive lineman Darius Robinson were the only non-participants Friday. Pappoe, who is dealing with a hip injury, has experienced some struggles on defense but is a key contributor on special teams. Robinson’s practice window remains open until next week before he must be activated for the 53-man roster.

Right tackle Kelvin Beachum was back on the practice field with the team after receiving a DNP on Thursday. He was limited, as were left guard Evan Brown (ankle), defensive lineman Roy Lopez (ankle), cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting (neck), linebacker Kyzir White (knee), cornerback Garrett Williams (groin) and wide receiver Michael Wilson (Ankle).

After not practicing on Thursday, the Chargers returned to the field on Friday. Outside linebacker Joey Bosa (hip), tight end Hayden Hurst (groin) and wide receiver Quentin Johnston (ankle) remained on the sideline.

The extra day of rest for the Cardinals provided a boost as the majority of players who left Sunday’s game were back on the practice field Thursday as the Cardinals prepared to face the Chargers.

Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. remained in the concussion protocol and participated in limited practice while wearing the bright yellow non-contact uniform. Offensive lineman Evan Brown is dealing with an ankle injury. He was one of seven players listed as limited.

The other limited players were defensive lineman Roy Lopez (ankle), cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting (neck), linebacker Kyzir White, cornerback Garrett Williams (groin) and wide receiver Michael Wilson (ankle).

Defensive lineman Darius Robinson (calf) did not practice. Linebacker Owen Pappoe also missed practice because of a hip injury. Continuing the trend of the last two weeks, right tackle Kelvin Beachum was listed as a non-participant due to a hamstring injury after stretching with the team.

The Chargers’ initial practice report is an estimate, as they practiced Wednesday and took Thursday off. Notable DNPs include outside linebacker Joey Bosa (hip), wide receiver Quentin Johnston (ankle) and tight end Hayden Hurst (groin).
