Michael Kesslering scores in OT to give the Utah Hockey Club a 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins

Michael Kesserling scored 2:46 into overtime to give the Utah Hockey Club a 2-1 victory over the Boston Bruins on Saturday night.

Vladislav Kolyachonok also scored for Utah, tying the game with 5:09 left in the third period and forcing overtime for the fourth time this season. Connor Ingram finished with 22 saves.

Cole Koepke scored his third goal of the season for Boston and Jeremy Swayman stopped 30 shots.

MORE about the UTAH HOCKEY CLUB:

After a scoreless first half, Boston took a 1-0 lead on Koepke’s goal with 7:11 left to play in the second half. Koepke stormed up the ice after a Utah turnover and fired a low snap shot past Ingram to give the Bruins the lead.

Kolyachonok equalized for the first time this season by charging toward Swayman and sending a backhander past the goalkeeper.

Takeaways

Bruins: Stifling defense held Boston against one of the league’s most potent offenses for much of the game. Utah boasted a shot-on-goal advantage but struggled to find clean shots despite heavy traffic around the net.

Utah: Careless passing and sloppy finishing robbed Utah of the punch that was a hallmark early in the season and late into the season.

Key moment

Kesserling’s overtime goal completed an improbable comeback after Utah went scoreless for nearly 55 minutes.

Key statistics

Utah has gone to overtime in four of its first seven games, winning three.
