Michigan State 32, Iowa 20, final: A really strong performance from Michigan State after the bye week. The Spartans boasted 468 yards of balanced total offense and a defense that had an outstanding performance in the first half, giving the Spartans an early lead. They may not be in the category of Ohio State and Oregon, but Michigan State has shown that it can still compete with the rest of the Big Ten.

th quarter

34: Michigan State got into the end zone on a pass play, but was called back for pass interference (Jaron Glover’s pick wasn’t subtle). That led to another field goal. Jonathan Kim’s 46-yard field goal was his sixth of the game and set a school record. Michigan State 25, Iowa 14

52: Cade McNamara sails a pass over the middle and Nikai Martinez shoots the ball for the Spartans’ first takeaway of the day. Michigan State 22, Iowa 14

52: Michigan State reaches the Iowa 35 but is aided by a false start, a sack. That leads to another field goal attempt from Jonathan Kim, who shoots from 55 yards after previously missing from that distance. With five field goals, he tied the MSU record for field goals in a game. Michigan State 22, Iowa 14
