Game updates, live score in college football

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas football will tango with No. 8 LSU tonight in the annual battle for the Golden Boot.

The Razorbacks (4-2, 2-1 SEC) are looking for a second straight win over a top-10 opponent after defeating Tennessee 19-14 in their last game before a week off. With a win, Arkansas would improve to 3-1 or better in four SEC games for the first time under coach Sam Pittman.

The Tigers (5-1, 2-0) are looking to win their sixth straight game after a season-opening loss to Southern California. LSU beat Ole Miss 29-26 in overtime last week and boasts one of the best passing offenses in the country behind a dominant offensive line and quarterback Garrett Nussmeier.

A victory over the Tigers would secure multiple top-10 wins in an Arkansas football season for the first time since 1965 and only the third time (1964 and 1965) in program history.

Below are live score updates, key plays and more from Arkansas football’s home game against LSU.

Arkansas football vs. LSU score updates

Second quarter

  • The Tigers scored on all four possessions, but three of those scores were field goals after another shot by Diego Ramos. The Tigers have already been assessed eight penalties, most of which were pre-snap violations. Arkansas trails 16-7 with 3:10 remaining in the first half.

  • The Hogs are on the field and Armstrong has his first touchdown of the season with a beautifully designed play that frees up the wide receiver on a deep out route. The Hogs rushed 75 yards on nine plays to cut the deficit to 13-7 with 8:25 left in the first half.
  • Arkansas’ defense once again kept the Tigers out of the end zone and limited the damage to three points. Diego Ramos makes his 48-yard attempt to give LSU a 13-0 lead early in the second quarter.

First quarter

  • Rashod Dubinion fails on the first play of the ensuing drive, and the Tigers recover at the Arkansas 38. LSU could go up by three points with a touchdown here.
  • Damian Ramos hits a 33-yard field goal to give the Tigers a 10-0 lead. Not an ideal start for the Hogs, but near the end of the first quarter they did a good job of getting off the field and keeping LSU out of the end zone.
  • Matthew Shipley misses a 43-yard attempt and the Hogs come up empty on their first drive. Shipley replaces the injured Kyle Ramsey this week. LSU leads 7-0 with 6:21 left in the first quarter.
  • The Tigers caught Arkansas’ run defense on second-and-goal from the 22-yard line when Durham blocked a tackle and sprinted into the left corner of the end zone. It was an easy effort for LSU’s offense, which marched 75 yards in eight plays, to grab an early lead.

Arkansas vs LSU Prediction

Arkansas 27, LSU 24. The Hogs will be healthier than they have been in weeks, and it feels like the program has gotten back on track. Taylen Green’s availability is key, but if he can play in this lineup, this is an ideal spot for Arkansas to pull off another upset at home. Why not predict another three-point game?
