Over 15 million severe weather warnings in California for dry, windy weather

More than 15 million people are under fire warnings in California – including Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento – due to dry and windy conditions.

Relative humidity is forecast to be as low as 5% in some locations, along with wind gusts of up to 55 miles per hour. These conditions, combined with the dry soil and vegetation, can cause fires to start and spread more easily.

California Fire says they have increased staffing levels throughout the state for the duration of the alerts. The warnings are currently in effect until Saturday afternoon.

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect today across much of California as enhanced fire weather conditions continue to prevail in the West.
