It’s almost time to return to Arrakis.

The “Dune” prequel series “Dune: Prophecy” has finally gotten a release date. The first episode will be released on Sunday, November 17th at 9pm on HBO and streaming on Max. The season consists of six episodes and airs on Sundays.

Set more than 10,000 years before the events of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films, the show follows the origins of the Bene Gesserit, the secret order of powerful witches who influence the politics of the science fiction world behind the scenes.

Here’s the official logline: “Set in the expansive universe of ‘Dune,’ created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert and set 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides, ‘Dune: Prophecy’ follows two Harkonnen sisters as they battle forces, who threaten the future of humanity and found the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. “Dune: Prophecy” is inspired by the novel “Sisterhood of Dune” by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

Emily Watson plays Valya Harkonnen, leader of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood, and Olivia Williams is her sister Tula Harkonnen. Both are ancestors of the evil House Harkonnen, which betrays Paul Atreides and his father in the “Dune” films. Mark Strong plays Emperor Javicco Corrino and Sarah-Sofie Boussnina is his daughter Princess Ynez. The cast also includes Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Camilla Beeput, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden and Emma Canning and Yerin Ha.

Alison Schapker serves as showrunner and executive producer. Diane Ademu-John co-developed the series and serves as executive producer. The Frank Herbert estate is executive produced by Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, John Cameron, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns and Jon Spaihts, Brian Herbert, and Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert. Kevin J. Anderson serves as co-producer. The series is co-produced by HBO and Legendary Television.
