New York Dashcam Thwarts Insurance Fraud Bid – New York Dashcam Thwarts Insurance Fraud Bid in Queens

An alleged attempt to stage a car accident to make fraudulent insurance claims in New York was foiled thanks to a simple dashcam that recorded the entire incident. The video posted by Ashpia Natasha on TikTok shows her driving on the Belt Parkway in Queens when a Honda Civic appears to intentionally cause a collision.

In the video description, the woman said she was driving in the middle lane when the Civic abruptly cut her off and slammed on the brakes, apparently trying to force her to rear-end the sedan. However, the woman managed to brake in time to avoid a collision.

Seconds later, the Civic is suddenly seen reversing and crashing into Natasha’s car. The woman is seen freaking out over the sudden turn of events while she is on the phone with someone.

Soon four people are seen exiting the Civic, acting as if they were hurt and injured. The woman said she noticed the driver of the Civic, a man wearing a hat, swap places with a female passenger immediately after the collision.

She also mentioned that a blanket or tarp covered the rear window of the Civic. As the suspected fraudsters examined the damage, one person appeared to notice the dashcam on Natasha’s car.

He quickly asked the woman about her insurance before quickly leaving the scene. This incident also involved a red Kia, which was driving close behind Natasha’s car during the incident. As the incident unfolded, one of the occupants of the Honda Civic fled in the red Kia.

Natasha contacted the police after the incident, but they reportedly refused to come to her aid. The woman claimed police had cited a policy of not attending accidents without injuries when exchanging insurance information.

The video has since gone viral and brought attention to the increasing incidents of insurance fraud. This is an “induced accident” where a person attempts to intentionally have their car hit by a vehicle in order to claim compensation.
