Lakers player broke down in tears after meeting Steph Curry

Quincy Olivari spent the preseason with the Los Angeles Lakers.

They played their last game on Friday night against the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco.

Olivari led the Lakers with 22 points, seven rebounds and two assists while shooting 8/16 from the field and 5/9 from three-point range (the Lakers lost 132-74).

After the game, the former Xavier star had the opportunity to meet his idol (Steph Curry).

When asked about Curry, Olivari became emotional (h/t Spectrum SportsNet).

Olivari: “I’ve liked him since I was in the 6th grade. I don’t even know what to say. This is my favorite player ever. The first thing he told me was that I’m a big fan of your game. “To be honest, I’m a big fan of his. He signed it twice. I just wanted to be like him. He could have some respect for me and then we could talk in the background. He gave me a pair of his shoes and signed them.

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin added a video of Olivari meeting Curry as a child.

About McMenamin: “Quincy Olivari showed Steph Curry this video after the game and then left the arena with a pair of Steph’s signed shoes.”

The Lakers will play their first game of the 2024-25 season on October 22 when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves in Los Angeles.
