OMAHA, Neb. — Ava Martin posted a match-high 15 kills and hit .467 to lead the sixth-ranked Creighton volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Xavier on Friday night at DJ Sokol Arena. The scores of the Bluejay victory were 25-14, 25-19, 25-19.

In addition to Martin’s big night, Kendra Wait had 37 assists and 10 digs Norah sister recorded 12 digs and nine digs for the Bluejays, who played without a sideline Elise Götzinger. Maddy Bilinovic 18 digs and two aces added, Alivia Hausmann reached her season high with three aces and is from Cincinnati Sydney Breissinger had 10 digs, an ace and her second career kill against her hometown team. The Bluejays hit .342 and finished the game with 49 kills, 59 digs, nine aces and 7.5 blocks.

Xavier (6-11, 4-3 BIG EAST) was led by 10 kills and 12 digs from Emma Grace and 15 digs from libero Lucia Corsaro. The Musketeers had 31 kills, 46 digs, six blocks and four aces while hitting .173.

Creighton (16-2, 7-0 BIG EAST) gave up the first point of the game before Bilinovic went on a five-point run to give CU the lead for good in the opening game. The lead increased to 12:5 after a serve from Hausmann and even grew to nine on three occasions. Sis had seven kills and Bilinovic six digs in the lid-lifter as CU hit .500 and held the Muskies to .111 hits.

Xavier led as late as 13-12 in the second set, but CU responded with a three-point shot after a timeout to take control. CU scored five of the last seven points and took the 25-19 win in the second set. Martin had six kills in the second set and Hausmann made her last two aces with back-to-back points midway through the set. CU hit .412 to offset a visiting Xavier club that attacked at a .289 clip.

The Bluejays used a 7-1 run in the final frame to take a 22-14 lead. Sky McCunes In her first appearance in five weeks, she hit an ace on her first pointback to extend the CU lead to 24-15, and five points later a serving error by Xavier ended Creighton’s 13th win of the season. Martin had seven kills in the final set while Bilinovic delivered eight digs. CU held DePaul to .111 hitting in the final frame.

CU returns to the court Sunday at 1 p.m. when it hosts DePaul in the program’s 17th annual Pink Out matchup.
