On3 issues a statement on FSU’s acquisition of DJ Uiagalelei

It’s no secret that the 2024 college football season isn’t going according to plan for Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles. Starting the season 1-5 and 1-4 in conference play was something no one expected, which made all Seminoles fans unhappy.

A big part of the problem was the abysmal offensive play, which many fans blamed on quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. It seems On3’s Jesse Simonton would agree in his article about whether teams have made the transfer quarterback carousel.

For Florida State, Simonton answered bluntly, “Hell no.” He expands on his answer by saying, “The DJ Uiagalelei experiment is thankfully over.” He missed the Clemson game with a finger injury, but was released after the disastrous first five Playing for the Noles (1-4 record, 53.8% completion rate with four touchdowns to six picks) was practically benched.”

While it wasn’t the start anyone expected from the Oregon State transfer, the blame can’t be placed entirely on Uiagalelei. The Seminoles’ running game ranks last in all of college football, resulting in a lack of offense overall.

DJU’s status is unknown as Norvell is unsure if we will see him in a Seminoles uniform again this season. While some fans are probably okay with that, rest assured that Uiagalelei wants another chance to redeem himself.

The Seminoles have their next ACC test this weekend as Florida State will take on the Duke Blue Devils. The game takes place this Friday, October 18th starting at 7pm ET. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
