Florida State football commits rare turnover hat trick against Duke

DURHAM, N.C. — Just as things start to look up for Florida State football, the Seminoles can’t stay out of the way.

The first quarter ended 7-3 and the Seminoles’ offense and special teams were inconsistent.

The Seminoles started explosively, led by Lawrance Toafili, leading to three points after staging six plays for 46 yards. Since then, FSU has been plagued by mistakes and missed opportunities to score more points.

Mike Norvell made a bold move by faking a punt that led to a 30-yard run by tight end Kyle Morlock, putting the Seminoles into Duke territory.

An attempt at another field goal, a bad snap and a shaky hold resulted in a blocked field goal by Duke defensive lineman Wesley Williams.

Quarterback Brock Glenn committed three consecutive turnovers, including a pick-six that put the Blue Devils offside.

Cornerback Chandler Rivers intercepted the ball. Glenn is 3 for 10 for 37 yards, two interceptions and a fumble loss. FSU is 0 for 5 on third downs and trails 17-3 with 7:11 left in the second quarter.

Luke Kromenhoek made his first appearance at quarterback on the ensuing possession.
