Prophecy Official Trailer for Max Series Premiere Date

UPDATED with additional panel details: After releasing two teasers, Max revealed the official trailer for the upcoming Legendary prequel series on Thursday Dune: Prophecy and set a hard premiere date of November 17th.

The news broke today during the series’ panel discussion at New York Comic Con. Watch the trailer above.

The series is set 10,000 years before the rise of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides in the Denis Villeneuve-directed films. It follows two Harkonnen sisters who fight against forces that threaten the future of humanity and create the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. To you, they are like Jedi sisters in Frank Herbert’s novels star Wars people out there.

Dune: Prophecy will consist of six episodes. The series has been in the works since HBO Max’s inception five years ago.

During today’s NYCC panel, seven actors from the series, including Emily Watson and Olivia Williams, appeared to previously address the rivalries, politics and intentions of this series dune Universe. They were joined by showrunner and executive producer Alison Schapker and executive producer Jordan Goldberg.

Indian actress Tabu, who appears in the trailer, will also appear in the series, the group revealed during the hour-long chat.

The committee dropped that too Dune: Prophecy will have a theatrical premiere in New York City on October 30th.

Watson, as “Mother Superior” of the school for young priestesses in training, said: “What really excited me as an actress when I came into this world was that these women come from a really, really, noticeably messed up family.” They had a terrible childhood and that kind of drove them away. And nothing, nothing in this world is good and bad; Everything is compromised and strange, and yet Valya Harkonnen’s goal is to determine the right path for humanity. That’s their ambition.”

said Schapker Dune: Prophecy is intended to lift the curtain behind the pure women’s movement from which the powerful Bene Gesserit sisterhood developed. They are fortune tellers and human lie detectors who can also use their voice to control the behavior of others. “One of the great things about this show is that we certainly don’t want to take away its mystique, but we do look behind its closed doors and kind of look at how they work,” Schapker said.

It’s also an early look at the Harkonnen family – Herbert’s undisputed villains dune-iversum — but, Schapker said, “at a time when they’re not quite the more monstrous version you see 10,000 years later.” Dune: Prophecy also examines the origins of the interstellar family feud at the heart of the dune Canon between the corrupt Harkonnens and the noble Atreides clan.

Filmed in Hungary, the show also makes extensive use of real sets and locations, including an ancient cathedral, rather than projection technology and computer graphics to create backgrounds and landscapes.

“I saw a few sets,” said Williams, who plays Tula Harkonnen, “and there were sets in this show that I walked into, particularly the Bene Gesserit headquarters, the headquarters — I gasped. “It was breathtaking.”

“It was like an amusement park,” said Jessica Barden, who plays the younger Valya. “It was incredible.”

Schapker said she was aware of them both dune Films by Denis Villeneuve.

“The films set the bar so high and, in my opinion, are truly unbeatable dune “For a lot of people,” she said, “and just enlivened the whole thing – I don’t even want to call it a franchise.”…And we definitely felt like we wanted to strive to be worthy in every way, to hold another corner of the country dune universe, (so) that fans who engage with the films and love them feel like they’re seeing a different part of the story that might also have something to do with the films. That’s why we love what Denis has done and we’ve tried very hard to do our best and live up to his standards.”

The official trailer shown shows Watson as the robed and forbidding head of the Sisterhood, aiming to, in her words, “advance our species and rule the future.” Amid shots of sprawling alien landscapes and towering temple-like interiors, her Valya Harkonnen says, “Now is the time to secure the throne and protect the Empire.”

Valya and Tula are seen putting their plans into action, and Mark Strong appears as the Emperor, who says that his enemies will feed him if he loses control of one of Dune’s key worlds, the desert planet Arrakis, home of spice , which powers interplanetary travel “to the worm” – a reference to Dune’s giant, spice-producing annelids.

Travis Fimmel also appears as Desmond Hart, another possible rival to the women training a generation of powerful female mystics.

The trailer ends with Watson wryly saying, “I run a school for young women. We pose no threat to anyone.”

The series, which has undergone several major casting, writing and directing changes as it deals with a pandemic and strikes, also stars Jodhi May, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds and Chris with Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning and Yerin Ha.
