We may be talking “nonsense,” but it seems like Sabrina Carpenter is some kind of sports jinx! The internet is abuzz as fans have pointed out a strange pattern: Many of the teams the 25-year-old singer has represented have lost games after she wore their merchandise. Could this be a Carpenter curse? Here’s the breakdown:

The first case of Sabrina’s jersey curse appears to have occurred in the UK. During her performance at Capital’s Summertime Ball on Sunday, June 16, the “Please Please Please” singer wore an England jersey on stage. It appeared to be a gesture of support for England in the upcoming European Cup final, but a month later England lost 2-1 to Spain.

When the pop star modeled a sparkly Toronto Maple Leafs jersey on September 26, she looked adorable, but didn’t do the team any favors. On October 9, they lost their rivalry game against Montreal.

The losses didn’t start piling up until October 9, because on the same day the Leafs lost to Montreal, Carpenter wore a Phillies jersey at her concert. Carpenter is originally from Pennsylvania, so she certainly didn’t mean to curse the Phillies when she wore her pinstripe uniform (with the cheeky number 69 on the back, because why not?). But that same evening they lost to the Mets 4-1.

Apparently Carpenter doesn’t even have to be on stage for the curse to take effect. She wore a vintage Cowboys sweatshirt to brunch on October 11th, and on Sunday, October 13th, the Texas team was defeated by the Detroit Lions 47-9.

Maybe coaches facing a difficult game should start sending out Starlet merchandise for opposing teams. It couldn’t hurt to stay in their “good graces”!
