UniversalThe Epic Universe theme park will open its doors on May 22nd in Orlando, Florida.

Epic Universe is the company’s fourth theme park, covers 750 hectares and is the largest of all its properties with five themed worlds: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – The Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon – The Isle of Berk, Celestial Park and Dark Universe.

First announced in 2019, Epic Universe represents the largest single investment Comcast-owned NBCUniversal has ever made in its theme park business and in Florida overall, CEO Brian Roberts said at the time.

Due to the pandemic, construction was stopped in July 2020 but restarted in March 2021.

By adding Epic Universe to its Orlando amusement lineup, Universal can transform its two-park resort into a week-long destination rather than just a two- or three-day family getaway. The company also operates Volcano Bay, a water park about a mile from Universal Studios.

“This is a pivotal moment for our destination and we are excited to welcome guests to Epic Universe next year,” Karen Irwin, president and COO of Universal Orlando Resort, said in a statement Thursday. “With the addition of this spectacular new theme park, our guests will have an unforgettable vacation experience with a week of thrills that will be nothing short of epic.”

Epic Universe will be anchored around Loews Hotels’ Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a 500-room property that will have a private entrance to the park for hotel guests.

Universal will begin offering some multi-day tickets and packages starting October 22nd. In this first phase of tickets, guests can purchase a three-, four-, or five-day entry to Universal’s Orlando Resort as well as a one-day entry to Epic Universe.

Additionally, Annual Passholders will have the opportunity to purchase Epic Universe Day Passes on October 24th before they go on sale to the general public. Additional ticket options will be available at a later date.
