Cold front in South Florida brings lower humidity – NBC 6 South Florida

The first cold front of the season is moving south toward South Florida and will arrive Wednesday afternoon.

Even if this front does not cause a major change in temperature, a pleasant adjustment to the humidity will occur in its wake.

This will result in a few nice days of near-normal temperatures for mid-October, minus the late-season stuffiness.

It was almost the same time last year that South Florida experienced its first morning of the season with lows in the 60s.

Unfortunately, this will not be the case with this system. Instead, the low humidity will be wiped out Wednesday evening and Thursday as lows fall to the lower 70s and highs will be in the low to mid 80s.

These values will be very close to our mid-October averages with lows around 75 and highs around 86.

In South Florida, the first cold fronts of fall typically do not result in a prolonged period of cool weather and cannot keep rain chances low.

Wednesday’s front will remain stuck in the Florida Strait and become a focal point for increased showers and some storms through Friday.

Unfortunately, this pattern will continue over the weekend.

From Friday, the short break in humidity will end with a chance of rain, humidity and rising temperatures.

Additionally, windy conditions will develop throughout the weekend, increasing rip current risk across South Florida.
