What are today’s Connections answers?

  • Sometime in the future: Someday, later, next, soon

  • What the extended index and middle fingers can represent: Peace, Scissors, Two, Victory

You know when you just sit there and stare at a list of words and nothing stands out to you? Yes, that was me today. It didn’t help that Connections went out of its way to fool people into thinking there was a category in which to bow out. With “Peace”, “Cheerio”, “Later” and “Bye” I was convinced. Forgive me for Connections’ lack of success, but I think people should say “Cheerio” more often.

Congratulations if you got today’s Connections answer right, with or without the help of our handy tips above! And if you didn’t make it today, don’t worry – a new Connections puzzle is released every day at midnight, so you can try again tomorrow, just like Wordle.

What are connections?

Connections is one of the most popular daily puzzle games published by The New York Times (owner of Wordle). The goal of Connections is to group the 16 words of the day into four groups, with each group of four words having a common theme.

For example, the words “Hook,” “Nana,” “Peter,” and “Wendy” are all Peter Pan characters. Or to give another example: “Action,” “Ballpark,” “Go,” and “Stick” are all words that usually come directly before the word “Figure.”

Your job is to figure out what these themes are that connect the different words together – but be careful, because false connections are often deliberately inserted there to throw you off! To win the game you must find all four connections without making four mistakes. On the fourth mistake the game is over and the answer is displayed automatically.

Each of the four groups in each day’s connection puzzle is also assigned a different color, indicating how easy or difficult the connection is to find. These colors are: yellow (easiest), green (easy), blue (medium), and purple (most difficult).

That concludes today’s guide to solving the NYT Connections word puzzle.
