Police respond to a bomb threat at Rockhurst University

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Rockhurst University police and Kansas City, Missouri police are investigating a bomb threat at the university Wednesday evening.

KCPD said the bomb threat was sent to the university around 6:15 p.m

“KCPD is working with Rockhurst Police to search the area for any potentially explosive or suspicious objects,” a department spokesman said shortly before 7:30 p.m

An alert was sent to Rockhurst students at 6:38 p.m. telling them to evacuate to the baseball field

To conduct a search of the area, police said KCPD and Rockhurst are working together to restrict access to areas of the campus and some surrounding streets.

KCPD Explosives Detection K9 officers are on scene and coordinating the search of the area.

UPDATE: At 7:47 p.m., Rockhurst students who had been evacuated to the baseball field were moved to SFX Church. All students who were not on campus were ordered by the university to stay away.
