Harris was introduced by Bob Lange, a fifth-generation Pennsylvania farmer, and his wife, Kristina. Bob said he voted for Donald Trump twice and Kristina voted for him once.

“I thought he was fighting for people like us, but it’s clear that Donald Trump doesn’t care about helping hard-working people, and he certainly doesn’t care about our community and our Constitution,” Bob Lange told the crowd in Washington Crossing. “He only cares about what’s good for him. January 6th was the last straw for me.”

“Never in a million years would any of us have thought we would be standing here supporting a Democrat,” his wife added. “But we have enough.”

In a previous interview with WHYY News, Greenwood, who was a former Republican who “never was Trump” and is now chairman of Republicans for Harris, said he hoped that one day the Republican Party would decide to move on and putting the country over a divisive personality.

“The first order of business, of course, is that we have to get Donald Trump out of the way because he is toxic,” he said. “He is a malignant narcissist and has fooled a number of frankly gullible people into believing the things he has said.”

He added that he disagreed with some of Harris and the Democrats’ actions, but that Republicans in Congress could “tone down” any liberal policies they agreed with.

“This is how the system is supposed to work,” he said.

Kinzinger appeared to share Greenwood’s sentiments and delivered brief remarks at Washington Crossing.

“Donald Trump may be running as a Republican, but the truth is that he does not share the long-held Republican values ​​of support for democracy, advocacy for the rule of law and loyalty to the Constitution,” he said. “As a Republican, this makes me sad. But what gives me hope is that there is a candidate in this race who represents these values.”
