Election Day 2024 is just around the corner, but if you don’t want to wait until November 5th to cast your vote in state and federal elections, you can vote in person at certain locations or request an absentee ballot before that date. if you are eligible.

In addition to voting in Tennessee’s presidential, congressional and legislative races, Knoxville voters will also vote on a referendum on how to elect future City Council members.

Early voting in Tennessee will take place October 16-31. Specific dates, times and polling locations vary by county. There are over 300,000 registered voters in Knox County, and that means lines will be long on Election Day, warned Chris Davis, Knox County election administrator.

Voting early allows you to choose a polling place instead of going to an assigned location on Election Day.

No, the voter registration deadline for the presidential election was October 7th.

How do I register to vote by mail in Tennessee?

The last day to request an absentee ballot is October 29th. You should do this sooner if possible.

Ballot requests can be emailed to [email protected].

There are many eligibility restrictions on who can request an absentee ballot by mail, but some qualifications include voters who are 60 and older, outside the county on Election Day, hospitalized, attending school outside of their home or living in a nursing home At home or on the go for military service and more. All qualifications can be found at sos.tn.gov.

Where is early voting available in Knox County?

The early voting period is October 16-31. During this time, registered voters may visit any early voting location on any day and at any time they are open.

When is early voting in Knox County?

Hours vary depending on the day and location where you vote. No polling stations are open on Sundays.

Early voting times for Carter Senior Center, City-County Building, Downtown West, Eternal Life Harvest Center at Five Points, Gibbs Ruritan Club, Halls Recreation Center, Knoxville Expo Center, New Harvest Park and Village Green Shopping Center:

  • Oct. 16: 8 a.m.-8 p.m
  • 17th-18th Oct.: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m
  • Oct. 19: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m
  • 21-22 Oct.: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m
  • Oct. 23: 8 a.m.-8 p.m
  • 24th-25th Oct.: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m
  • Oct. 26: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m
  • 28-29 Oct.: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m
  • Oct. 30: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m

When is election day?

Election day is November 5th.

Polling stations are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you arrive at your polling place before 8 p.m. and have to wait in line past that time, you can still vote if you stay in line.

Where do I vote on election day?

On November 5th, you must vote at your registered polling place. Check your address using the polling place search button on kgis.org.

Some polling locations may have changed since the 2022 election due to redistricting. Voters are therefore advised to reconsider whether they want to wait to cast their vote on Election Day.

Tennessee Senate District 6 is also on the ballot.

Who will be on the ballot in the federal election in East Tennessee?

There are elections for President, U.S. Senate, and U.S. House Districts 1, 2, and 3.

Do I have to show ID to vote?

Yes, you do.

These IDs are acceptable even if they have expired:

  • Tennessee driver’s license with your photo
  • passport
  • Photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security
  • Photo ID issued by the federal or Tennessee government
  • Military photo ID
  • Tennessee handgun carry permit with your photo
