Fox News did not disclose that the town hall was made up entirely of women because Trump was full of supporters

Fox News hosted an all-women town hall with former President Donald Trump, billed as an opportunity for female voters to ask the Republican nominee questions that matter to them.

Wednesday morning’s Georgia Town Hall aired where Trump answered questions about reproductive laws, transgender rights and other issues. But Fox News did not disclose that the female audience it selected for the event consisted of local Republican supporters and the network edited its broadcast to remove some of their vocal supporters of Trump.

The Georgia Federation of Republican Women wrote on its Facebook page Wednesday that the group helped host the event, posting photos of the venue and writing that they were “very excited about the opportunity to host this event here in Georgia.” !”

Shortly after CNN reached out to the group and Fox News about their role, the post was edited to say they were “excited for the opportunity to participate in this event here in Georgia!”

Republican women from Forsyth County also posted a video from the event showing attendees chatting with Trump and Fox News host Harris Faulkner.

A Fox News spokesperson told CNN that the event was not hosted by a Republican group and was solely the network’s event. But the right-wing media outlet did not reveal the composition of the audience in its press release announcing the town hall or in Faulkner’s introduction, saying only that it was held “in front of an all-female audience.”

The first question asked of Trump at the town hall came from a woman named Lisa, who asked the former president a question about the economy. The network did not disclose that Lisa is also president of the Fulton County Republican Women’s Group.

Local Republican groups did not respond to CNN requests for comment on Wednesday.

Some of the town hall attendees made it clear that they were supporters of the former president, either in their questioning or in their clothing.

“I want to thank you for coming into a room full of women who the current administration would consider domestic terrorists,” a woman named Alicia said to laughter in the audience before asking a question about foreign policy.

But part of Alicia’s question was edited by Fox News to remove her admission that she voted for Trump.

“I proudly cast my vote for you today. I hope they count it,” she added, according to an audio recording from a CNN reporter in attendance.

While it is common for a recorded event or interview to be shortened due to time constraints, Alicia’s brief comment came in the middle of her question, which remained unchanged on the broadcast.

During another moment missing from Fox’s broadcast, Trump asked the crowd who they were voting for, leading those in attendance to chant “Trump, Trump.”

Fox News did not respond to CNN’s questions about the missing remarks.

The crowd of women overwhelmingly supported the former president, greeting Trump with a standing ovation and often breaking into applause as he responded. When Trump called President Joe Biden “the worst president in history” and Vice President Kamala Harris “the worst vice president,” the crowd erupted in cheers.

A woman in the crowd wore an “RNC delegate” hat. Another named Rachel wore a Trump pin visible on her blazer as she asked the former president a question.

When Faulkner asked the room if they opposed “biological men and boys competing against women and girls in sports,” almost the entire room raised their hands, the Fox host noted. According to CNN’s fact check of the event, Trump made at least 19 false claims during the hour-long town hall. Harris did not fact-check Trump on stage.

British-based news outlet The Independent, which covered the Georgia event, spoke to attendees and noted that many “came from area Republican groups and were invited by Fox News.”

Rachel, who wore a Trump pin while asking the candidate a question, was later interviewed on Fox News. Despite being identified as a Trump supporter by host Sandra Smith, the woman declined The Independent’s reporting.

“I’m a nobody and registered with nobody,” she said. “I found out about this meeting late through my local district’s Facebook page.”
