17-year-old in stable condition after shooting at SW Miami-Dade apartment complex – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

SOUTHWEST OF MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) – Residents are shocked after a hail of bullets was fired near apartment complexes, leaving a teenager shot and injured.

Miami-Dade police responded to a ShotSpotter alert at the Cutler Manor Apartments at 10875 SW 216th Street in southwest Miami-Dade just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 17-year-old boy with an apparent gunshot wound.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported him to Jackson South Medical Center in stable condition.

7News cameras captured officers huddled on the second floor of the apartment complex.

Video shared with 7News captures the sound of the hail of bullets being fired in the neighborhood.

One resident told 7News she heard dozens of shots fired.

Her neighbor, who lives at the Water’s Edge Apartments at 10905 SW 214th Street, said a bullet hit her window. The bullet did not penetrate because it was hurricane impact glass.

“They asked me if my daughter was in my room. I said, “No, she was in my room, thank God,” the woman said. “Thank God I changed her bed because her bed used to be right by the window. So if it had been there, she would have been sitting in her bed and she probably shouldn’t have gotten shot, but she would have been scared.”

The neighbor said it was her daughter’s bedroom and she was grateful her daughter was not in the room at the time of the shooting. She had just rearranged the bedroom furniture.

No other injuries were reported and no arrests were made.

Now investigators are looking for the shooter.

MDPD is investigating the shooting.
