Voting Standards and Deadlines – SoVaNOW: Home of The News & Record and The Mecklenburg Sun

Early absentee voting in Virginia began September 20th and continues through Saturday, November 2nd, ahead of the general election on Tuesday, November 5th. The deadline to register in Virginia is Tuesday, October 15th. Important dates to keep in mind:

» Mecklenburg County is offering in-person early voting on Saturday, Oct. 26 and Nov. 2 at the Registrar General’s Office at 316 Washington Street, Boydton. The office is open both Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to allow for weekend voting. You can also vote in person at the Registrar’s Office in Boydton on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Weekday early voting runs through Friday, November 1st.

The deadline to request mail-in ballots is October 26th. To request a mail-in ballot, apply online at vote.elections.virginia.gov, or you can also contact the Registrar General’s Office to request an application. October 25th is the last day to request an absentee ballot by mail.

Ballots can be returned by mail or dropped off in person at the registry office using a mailbox in the building. To be counted, ballots must be postmarked or returned in person by Election Day, Tuesday, November 5th.

Voters can also cast their vote in person on election day. District stations will be open Tuesday, November 5, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you stand in line by 7 p.m., you can vote. Two polling stations have changed:

» Precinct 103, formerly at Lake Country Regional Airport, was moved across the highway to Clarksville Life Saving and Rescue. It is located at 25 Burlington Drive, Clarksville.

» Precinct 201, formerly of the Chase City Volunteer Fire Department, has been transferred to the Chase City Rescue Squad. It is located at 335 Mecklenburg Drive, Chase City.
