“Live is moving pretty quickly,” Doug Meehan said in a video posted to TikTok.

Local news anchor Doug Meehan was hospitalized Thursday after hosting an event at Gillette Stadium, he said in a video posted Saturday.

The Channel 5 presenter told the story on TikTok, apparently filmed in a hospital bed.

“Life moves pretty fast,” the West Yarmouth native said at the start of the video.

Meehan, 60, said he was at a “beautiful event” at Gillette Stadium on Thursday. The event was a gala with the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting cancer patients.

Meehan, a cancer survivor, said he was hospitalized later that evening. In the video, he said a blockage in his intestines caused him to call an ambulance.

At the hospital, he said, he had a tube run up his nose and into his stomach for about 30 hours to clear the congestion.

“That wasn’t fun,” he said.

Meehan is currently co-anchor of Channel 5’s weekday newscast EyeOpener.
