HOLLYWOOD – It was a particularly emotional evening on “Dancing with the Stars”. The remaining celebrities danced to their own “dedications.” But Derek Hough and his wife Hayley Erbert also returned to the ballroom to dance for the first time since their brain surgery last year.

“I guarantee you there won’t be a dry eye in the audience,” said professional dancer Alan Bersten.

Erbert had quite a scare last year. While on tour with her husband Derek Hough, she had to undergo emergency surgery for a bleeding skull. Luckily she has recovered… and she returns to the ballroom.

“I’m just grateful to be here and have the opportunity to dance with my wife again,” Hough said. “And to start telling the story. The whole story.”

The couple is about to embark on a new tour… to celebrate the holidays.

“This is not your typical Christmas show. “It’s going to be pretty epic,” Hough said.

Erbert appears in the Christmas show with her husband.

But on Dancing with the Stars, Derek and Hayley’s colleagues and fellow fans can’t wait to see them on the dance floor.

“I know I’m going to cry watching her dance,” Jenna Johnson said. “I can’t wait to see what they do.”

“She thought she would never dance again,” Sasha Farber said. “It’s going to be a beautiful celebration and seeing her back in the ballroom dancing with Derek… very inspiring.”

“It’s so meaningful. It’s more than just dance, it’s life,” Bersten said.
