Scotland v Portugal LIVE: Latest scores and goal updates as the Scots take on Cristiano Ronaldo in the Nations League

(Action images via Reuters)

Scotland are desperate to end their losing streak as Hampden face Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo in the Nations League.

Steve Clarke’s side are on a “tough” nine-game winning streak, but defeat to Croatia on Saturday means the Tartan Army will have to lose five games in a row for the first time in their history if the result doesn’t go their way runs in Glasgow this evening.

The Scots have been hit by an injury crisis and a series of last-minute misfortunes. After defeats to Poland and Portugal last month, Clarke’s side then scored the stoppage-time equalizer that would have salvaged a 2-2 draw with Croatia, which was ruled out for offside in Zagreb.

This means Scotland is facing relegation from the top division of the Nations League, but a win against Portugal and Ronaldo would significantly ease the gloomy mood.

The game will not be televised live as ITV has not taken over the broadcast rights, and can only be viewed on Viaplay International’s YouTube channel. Follow live updates from Scotland vs Portugal in the Nations League below:

A first shot from Cristiano Ronaldo is so weak that Gordon can deflect it with a flop to the left. It won’t be his last attempt, you would think.

Craig Gordon also feels at ease as he watches a ball float over Cristiano Ronaldo’s head and into his welcoming hand.

Scotland – Portugal 0-0, 4 minutes

What an opportunity! And it depends exactly on who Scotland wants it for! Ben Doak finds Andy Robertson who deflects a lovely cross which is decisively countered by Scott McTominay. But his header lands directly at Diogo Costa, who parries relatively comfortably.

Portugal puts themselves in danger, Nuno Mendes with an unfortunate pass in his own half that almost allows Scotland a real shot on goal. The left-back recovers well to face an important challenge.
