North Texas woke up to a refreshing Tuesday morning with temperatures in the 50s and 60s across the region, about 15 degrees colder than Monday.

Winds will be from the south for most of the day, bringing temperatures back above average, peaking in the low 90s.

However, a strong cold front will move through North Texas late Tuesday afternoon and into the evening, bringing cool fall air with it. Temperatures will be in the 40s and 50s Wednesday morning, so have jackets and sweatshirts ready. In North Texas, temperatures haven’t been this low since April 22nd.

With plenty of sunshine and a nice northeast wind, Wednesday will be a great day to be outside as temperatures only reach the upper 60s.

The cooler air will continue Thursday morning, with temperatures possibly cooling into the 30s in some parts of North Texas.

The cold front moving in will not bring moisture that much of the state needs. The risk of grass fires is high this week as drought worsens. Governor Abbott gave one Disaster declaration about the threat in 143 counties, including Collin and Denton.

There has been no measurable precipitation at DFW so far in October, 1.69 inches below average.

Temperatures will climb back into the 80s early next week.
