Jets QB Rodgers is ready to go, CB Carter is out for MNF vs. Bills

FLORHAM PARK, NJ – Aaron Rodgers is no longer on the New York Jets’ injury report and will be back under center Monday night against the Buffalo Bills.

The quarterback was in full action on Saturday after being limited on Thursday and Friday with a sprained ankle. Interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said earlier this week that Rodgers was also struggling with a hamstring injury.

But Rodgers, 40, can play well after having his worst game with the Jets last Sunday in London, when he threw three interceptions in a loss to Minnesota. The four-time NFL MVP’s leg was twisted awkwardly on one play, but he was able to stay in the game.

“He looked really good,” Ulbrich said. “He’s a wizard as far as the work he puts into his body and all that (regeneration) and everything. He looks like Aaron, which as we all know is awesome.”

Ulbrich replaced the fired Robert Saleh on Tuesday and demoted offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to playcaller. Todd Downing, the passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach, will lead the difficult offense against the Bills.

The defense will be without nickel cornerback Michael Carter II, who injured his back during pregame warmups last week and left the game early. Carter didn’t practice all week and had to miss Saturday.

Linebacker CJ Mosley could return after missing the last three games with a toe injury. He is listed as questionable due to limited practice all week.

“We have continually developed him in terms of the repetitions he does in training,” said Ulbrich. “He has felt better this week than he has in a long time, so we are confident.”

Ulbrich also said defensive tackle Leki Fotu is “on trend” to play after spending the first five games on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. His practice window opened last week, but the Jets didn’t activate him because they felt he needed a little more time.

Linebacker Jamien Sherwood injured his hand during practice but participated fully and was not on the final injury report.

Tight end Tyler Conklin was questionable as he was limited all week with a hip ailment. He is fourth on the team with 17 receptions.

The offensive line could get a big boost with the likely return of right tackle Morgan Moses, who missed two games with a knee injury but practiced fully Saturday and was taken off the injury report.
