Mountain Range HS administrator arrested for child sexual assault

A Mountain Range High School administrator was arrested Monday on suspicion of sending “inappropriate” images to an underage student.

Tate Drane, 27, was arrested by the Westminster Police Department on three charges, including sexual assault of a child by a person in a position of trust, online sexual exploitation of a child and online enticement of a child, the department said in a statement.

Multiple reports filed over the weekend through Safe2Tell, an anonymous reporting hotline for students, said he sent “inappropriate photos to an underage student.” Drane was arrested following further investigation.

District administrators could not be reached Monday afternoon to answer questions about whether Drane was still employed at the high school. According to the Mountain Range High School 2024-25 student handbook, Drane is the dean of students. Drane’s LinkedIn shows he has been employed by Adams 12 Five Star Schools for three and a half years. In his biography

The date for Drane’s court appearance has not yet been set. Adams County Jail records did not list him as of Monday afternoon.

Anyone with information about the allegations should call Westminster police at 303-658-4360.
