The New York Rangers will look to bounce back from their overtime loss to the Utah Hockey Club on Saturday night. They will welcome the Detroit Red Wings to town as they look to extend their winning streak to two games. The Rangers are a dominant team on their home ice at Madison Square Garden. Last year, they didn’t lose consecutive regular-season games on home ice. I expect this trend to continue with a solid recovery performance from an experienced team. Netminder Igor Shesterkin is expected to start for the Rangers, and after allowing six goals in his last appearance, I expect this goalie, who has Vezina Trophy aspirations, to be much better. The Rangers’ top six forwards are among the strongest in the league, led by Artemi Panarin, who scored four points in his first two games and had 120 points in 82 games last season.

The Detroit Red Wings continue to trend in the right direction as a team, but they just took one step forward in the offseason by adding veteran forward Vladimir Tarasenko. This move doesn’t really move the needle for me and doesn’t take this team to the next level. They will rely on the same core that has produced average seasons for several years in a row. They are a solid team, but I believe they are superior to the Rangers. The Rangers should have a slight edge in this game with home ice advantage, I’ll take them on the three-way money line.
