Depending on the results of Monday’s round of Nations League games, Italy could potentially secure their place in the Nations League quarter-finals as Luciano Spalletti’s side prepare to host Israel in Udine.

This year’s edition of the Nations League includes an additional round compared to previous years. The group stages will take place as usual, as will the semi-finals and the final mini-tournament in the summer, but there will be an additional quarter-final round in March.

The two best-placed teams in the Nations League A groups automatically qualify for the quarter-finals.

What Italy needs to secure Nations League qualification

Italy currently leads Group 2 of League A with seven points from the first three results of the tournament.

If the Azzurri beat Israel and if France beat Belgium in their game on Monday night, Italy are guaranteed to finish no less than second in their group and advance to the quarterfinals of the Nations League, regardless of what happens in the two remaining games on the group stage schedule.

There will be another international break in November when Italy will face Belgium away from home before facing France at the San Siro a few days later on November 17th.
