LOS ANGELES – After an underwhelming start, the National League Championship Series continues Monday with Game 2 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets.

Game 1 on Sunday night was anything but a contest, as the NL’s No. 1 seed jumped on Mets starter Kodai Senga in the first inning and New York never recovered. The Dodgers’ offense scored nine runs at the end of the night, while the pitching staff, led by Jack Flaherty, posted its third straight shutout of the postseason.

Now 1-0, New York will rely on Sean Manaea, who had a brilliant game in Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. On the other hand, Los Angeles will come in with a bullpen game started by Ryan Brasier, which was executed perfectly in Game 4 of the NLDS when the team had its back against the wall.

Not only are the Dodgers looking for a 2-0 series lead, but the team is also looking for some postseason history. The pitching staff has thrown 33 consecutive shutout innings — dating back to Game 3 of the NLDS — tying the 1966 World Series champion Baltimore Orioles for the longest streak in postseason history.
