Popular Atlanta radio host Wanda Smith passed away on Saturday (October 12), one day after her 58th birthday.

Rick Caffey, senior vice president and market manager for V-103, confirmed her death and expressed his condolences on the station’s Instagram account.

“Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of our beloved Wanda Smith, who brought so much joy to V-103 and the Atlanta community. Our deepest prayers and condolences go out to her family,” he captioned a photo of her smiling.

He highlighted her time at the station – where she went viral in 2018, most notably for her interview with Katt Williams – and added: “In her role at V-103, which dates back to 1997, Wanda Smith has given the Atlanta community brought so much joy and care.” . Wanda’s impact touched lives that not only made us laugh… She often championed behind-the-scenes efforts to change the lives of those without laughter.

Caffey concluded: “Rest in peace, Wanda, as you take your place among the stars. We will miss you.”

The sought-after media personality maintained her role as co-host of Frank & Wanda in the morningalongside Frank Ski since 1998 before leaving on foot in 2019.

In addition to her radio career, Smith also added acting for Tyler Perry Madea goes to prison And Madea’s Witness Protection Films. She was also widely known as a comedian with contributions to shows such as HBO’s Definitely Comedy Jam and BETs Comic View.

She stayed true to her ATL hometown and performed regularly at the Atlanta Comedy Theater.

Wanda Smith is survived by her husband, LaMorris Sellers, and their three children. The cause of death was not revealed.
