Texas superfan Matthew McConaughey calls out Oklahoma fans’ “empty seats” after bankruptcy

Matthew McConaughey is proud of his Longhorns. The Dallas Buyers Club actor congratulated Texas football on their big win over the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry on Saturday.

“34-3. Victory. In the second half there were many empty spaces on the red side. Onward we charge up the mountain,” McConaughey wrote.

“This was a tough loss for Texas,” one fan responded to the actor’s post.

“Congratulations Matthew,” one fan wrote. “Texas is looking tough this year. Really hard. Enjoy the victory. God bless.”

“We made her cry on the way home Matt I’m so happy,” chimed in another fan.

The official Instagram account for Texas Football also used a photo of the actor and reposted his X post congratulating the team.

X wasn’t the only place McConaughey showed his love for Texas football.

In a shared post with Texas football’s official Instagram account, the actor is seen wearing a cowboy hat, white buttons and blue jeans, pointing to the sky in a powerful pose.

“Good to see you @officiallymcconaughey,” the Texas Football Instagram account wrote in the comments section.

A graduate of the University of Texas, the respected actor has always shown his love for Texas football.

“Put them up, keep them out. Round 1. Done. Ding Ding. See you in the Big House,” the actor wrote on X last month after the team’s 52-0 win over Colorado State in August.

Last month, the Oscar-winning actor also congratulated Arch Manning on his first career win as the starting quarterback.

“P.S. Congratulations to Arch Manning on his first start as a Longhorn,” McConaughey wrote on X. “There are many more to come.”

As much as McConaughey loves Texas football, he has definitely proven to be the biggest fan. Last month, the actor shared a cinematic video in which he showed how much he was enjoying himself.

Texas football’s next game is Saturday (October 19) against the Georgia Bulldogs.
