Texas RB Joe Mixon (ankle) is expected to return to the lineup on Sunday against the Patriots

The Texans will be happy to see him back as they have struggled to replicate his performance.

It’s a small turnout, but Mixon seemed to fit perfectly into Houston’s running schedule. He started the season with 159 rushing yards and a touchdown in his first game for his new squad, a 29-27 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Despite not seeing action in the last three contests, Mixon remains the team’s leading rusher with 184 yards. Cam Akers and Dare Ogunbowale gave the Texans some relief in the backfield in Mixon’s absence, combining for 188 yards on the ground – although Ogunbowale also delivered 155 yards receiving.

Those two will once again take a backseat to Mixon and likely Dameon Pierce, who is no longer on the injury report after a four-week layoff with a hamstring injury.

Reintroducing a top-tier talent into Houston’s running game is especially important considering star wide receiver Nico Collins recently went on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury of his own.

With these offensive forces reshuffled, the Texans (4-1) will look for a third straight win when they take on the Patriots (1-4) at 1 p.m. ET.

Other injuries we’re keeping an eye on ahead of Sunday’s Week 6 games:
