Olympia 2024: Chris Bumstead wins 6th Classic Physique title and announces his retirement

Chris Bumstead is officially a six-time Classic Physique Olympic champion and has also officially retired from competition.

The man known as CBum is as dominant as ever as he completed both the preliminary and final stages over the weekend of October 11th and 12th in Las Vegas, Nevada. He won this title ahead of second-placed Mike Sommerfeld and third-placed Urs Kalecinski. He was already the longest reigning champion in the division’s history.

The most significant moment of the evening was his interview with Bob Cicherillo. After several people reflected on it, it was a bittersweet moment because it would be his last appearance on that stage.

Bumstead first entered the Olympic stage in 2017 when he finished second to then-champion Breon Ansley. For decades, he has established himself in bodybuilding and even broken into the mainstream world of pop culture.

The husband and father is now focused on his future family and business ventures, but stressed to fans that he will remain loyal to the sports and fitness industry in the future.

*This may be the last time you see me up here on this stage, but you will still see me.”

Bumstead is the second champion to retire on the Olympic stage this weekend. Eight-time Olympic champion Cydney Gillon also ended her career after her victory.
