Live match updates and highlights

Kansas State football hasn’t had much success in recent weeks under coach Chris Klieman, and the last time the Wildcats played on the road for a Big 12 After-Dark matchup, things certainly didn’t go well.

Can the 19th-ranked Wildcats (4-1, 1-1) reverse that trend Saturday at Folsom Field against an up-and-coming Colorado team (4-1, 2-0)? They must do this to compete in what has been a wild and unpredictable conference race.

K-State has lost its last four open-schedule games but had an impressive performance with a 42-20 home win over Oklahoma State two weeks ago. Previously, the Wildcats laid an egg in their Big 12 opener against Brigham Young, falling to the undefeated Cougars 38-9.

Colorado, which like BYU was picked to finish in the bottom half of the conference, is on a three-game winning streak, including Big 12 victories over Baylor (38-31 in overtime) and two weeks ago on the road at Central Florida ( 48-21). The Buffaloes also have a bye behind them.

Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson went to the locker room after apparently suffering a hip injury on a 33-yard pass to Jayce Brown with 12:59 left in the third quarter.

Ta’Quan Roberson entered the play and directed the Wildcats inside the 1-yard line before Johnson returned to hit Brown again for the 1-yard touchdown, putting K-State up 21 with 6:55 left in the third quarter. 7 to take the lead. The drive traveled 81 yards in 16 plays and lasted 7:58 minutes before Colorado touched the ball in the half.

According to ESPN’s sideline reporter, Colorado star wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter is questionable for the second half. He went to the locker room with an undisclosed injury and there were over 5 minutes left in the half.

Kansas State’s defense staves off a Colorado drive with a sack by Des Purnell, forcing an intentional grounding penalty. The Wildcats lead 14-7 at halftime.

Dylan Edwards scores on a 1-yard run with 1:52 left in the half after making 9 go-ahead shots, giving K-State a 14-7 lead. DJ Giddens had the first six carries for 50 yards on the eight-play, 60-yard drive.

DJ Giddens has all 50 yards on this K-State drive and the Wildcats have first-and-goal at the Colorado 10. We’re tied 7-7.

Giddens is the first rusher to gain 100 yards this season against Colorado. He now has 127 yards on 12 carries.

Avery Johnson is sacked for the third time, derailing K-State’s recent campaign. Colorado is after the K-State quarterback.

Johnson completed 7 of 8 passes for 53 yards.

After a quarter we are all tied up.

Kansas State goes for it on fourth down and 4 at the Colorado 8, and Avery Johnson scores. Chris Tennant’s kick makes it 7:7, 44 seconds before the end of the first quarter.

The play caps an 11-play, 75-yard drive that lasted 6:22 minutes. Big boost for supporters DJ Giddens and Dylan Edwards.

After a short K-State punt, Colorado drove 49 yards in nine plays and took the lead on a 25-yard completion from Shedeur Sanders to LaJontay Wester. The PAT is good and the Buffaloes lead 7-0 with 7:06 left in the first quarter.

After a defensive stop, K-State was set back by penalties and Colorado got the ball back in Wildcat territory with 11:08 left in the first period.

Kansas State wins the coin toss and moves. That means Shedeur Sanders and Colorado will start playing football.
