Boise State Broncos vs Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Prediction – Pickswise

Boise State made an impressive statement to the College Football Playoff Committee in Week 5 when the Broncos defeated an undefeated Washington State team on the blue turf. Since then, several Group 5 teams have fallen by the wayside in the playoffs, and Boise State has emerged as the favorite for that spot ever since. What the Broncos need to do is keep their heads down and continue to win by margins, and they will have a great chance to build their CFP resume with each passing week. With a massive matchup against UNLV for Boise State – a contest that could prove to be the Group of 5 game of the year – all signs point to this road trip to Hawaii being a massive prospect for the Broncos. And while I’m certainly leaning toward Hawaii at around 3 or more touchdowns, I think we’ll see plenty of fireworks on the island in this nighttime clash, which makes me want to bet on the over.

Boise State’s offense has been good all season. Led by current Heisman favorite and All-World running back Ashton Jeanty, the Broncos are a top-10 rushing offense in virtually every key metric, and quarterback Maddox Madsen has this offense ranked in the top 10 in Early Downs EPA and No. 6 reduce success rate to number 3. As far as hosts go, Hawaii has had its ups and downs this season, especially away from home. This is a team that traditionally appears as a big underdog on its home field, which fits the criteria for this week. Additionally, while Boise State’s offense is formidable, there are serious questions about a Broncos defense that ranks 96th in pass success rate allowed and 111th in 3rd and 4th down success rate. Given that there are real concerns in this Boise State secondary, the Rainbow Warriors should throw the ball early and often, and I expect we’ll see that in this game as well. Ultimately, Hawaii’s very poor ground game (126th in rushing success rate) shouldn’t come into play too much on Saturday, as quarterback Brayden Schager and Co. should see plenty of success through the air.

Given the difficulty of this point, I suspect Boise State will be a little flat in the early stages of this game, and that should show on the defensive side of the ball. As the game progresses, we should see a lot of points in this game, and I certainly don’t mind betting on the Hawaii team’s point total being 20.5 or better. However, I want the advantage of supporting both offenses here, so I’m going with Over 60 as my best bet for this game.
