LIVE UPDATES

Third trip of the Beavers

OSU easily made it into the red zone for the third time…but once again the game stalled near the goal line. Gevani McCoy completed two passes on chunk plays — a 30-yarder to Jeremiah Noga on third-and-4 and a 14-yarder to Bryce Caufield on first-and-10 — and freshman running back Salahadin Allah had a nice 21-yarder . Yard run to get the Beavers to the Nevada 4-yard line. But the Beavers’ push faltered from there as the Wolf Pack stuffed Anthony Hankerson on back-to-back runs and repelled a pass attempt from McCoy on third-and-2. Oregon State had to settle for a 22-yard field goal from Everett Hayes, capping a 10-play, 71-yard drive with three scores. Nevada leads 14-10.

Second trip to the wolf pack

And just like that, Oregon State follows suit. The Wolf Pack needed 13 plays to travel 78 yards for its second touchdown in as many drives to take a 14-7 lead. The drive, which lasted 6:36, included eight runs and ended with a two-yard touchdown burst from Savion Red, who rumbled his way out of the Wildcat formation and into the end zone. Nevada rushed for 134 yards on its first two drives of the game.

Second drive of the beavers

A promising drive went south in the red zone and spoiled another score for OSU. The Beavers appeared to score touchdowns on two separate plays, but errors by tight end Bryce Caufield cost them both scores. Anthony Hankerson bullied his way into the end zone for an 8-yard touchdown run on 1st-and-goal… but it was called back due to a holding penalty by Caufield. Four plays later, after the Beavers had advanced to the 3-yard line, OSU went for a touchdown on fourth down when quarterback Gevani McCoy targeted Caufield in the end zone. But the ball flew in and out of his hands… and into the waiting arms of Nevada’s Tori Daffin, who intercepted it. McCoy had gone 6 for 7 for 72 yards before the pick.

Wolf Pack first ride | Nevada answers with a TD

Nevada answered the Beavers’ strong opening attack with an even better attack of their own, traveling 75 yards for a touchdown in just six plays. All of the damage came on the ground as OSU’s shaky run defense took a hit. Running back Savion Red rushed for 42 yards on two runs – including a 33-yard touchdown run down the left sideline. Quarterback Brandon Lewis added 20 yards on two carries and escaped the Beavers’ defense on errant passing plays. The drive evened the score at 7-7.

Beavers ride for the first time | OSU opens with a TD

The Beavers opened the game with a beautiful drive, marching 75 yards in eight plays and scoring their first touchdown of the day. It started with a beautiful play-action pass to tight end Jermaine Terry II, included a game-winning nine-yard catch by Jeremiah Noga on third-and-six, and included a hefty dose of Anthony Hankerson rushing five times for 45 yards. The biggest play actually came from Hankerson with a 28-yard run that brought the Beavers to the Nevada 3-yard line. On the next play, Jake Reichle scored on a three-yard touchdown run on first-and-goal, and OSU took an early 7-0 lead.

Nevada won the pregame coin toss and pushed it into the second half. So the Beavers get the opening kickoff.
