The bodybuilding competition of the year is here. That’s right – Mr. Olympia is back for his 60th anniversary and is returning to Las Vegas.

The Ms. Olympia preliminary judging will take place on Friday morning, the finals will take place in the evening, and the Mr. Olympia main event is scheduled to begin on Saturday evening. Bodybuilders from all over the world will fight for the coveted title this weekend.

American bodybuilder Derek Lunsford took the title in 2023, becoming the first winner of the competition in two separate divisions (2023 Mr. Olympia and 2021 212 Mr. Olympia). Lunsford swapped places with defending champion Hadi Choopan, who beat him for first place in 2022.

Both Lunsford and Choopan have qualified for the 2024 competition, as has 2019 champion Brandon Curry. Andrea Shaw will be hoping for an incredible five-pointer in the Ms. Olympia competition.

When is Mr. Olympia in 2024?

• Dates: Friday, Oct. 11th – Saturday, Oct. 12th

This year Mr. Olympia will take place at Resorts World Las Vegas. The finals for Ms. Olympia and Mr. Olympia will take place on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Mr. Olympia will not be shown on a national television network. Viewers can stream the event live on OlympiaTV, which offers a pay-per-view package for $74.99.

Who is taking part in the Mr. and Ms. Olympia?

To qualify for events, participants must meet the requirements set by the IFBB Professional League. Nineteen men qualified for Mr. Olympia, while 15 women qualified for Ms. Olympia.

Lunsford is the reigning Mr. Olympia champion and is aiming for his second title this year. Choopan won in 2022 and will be hungry for a championship after finishing second last year.

Shaw is competing for a fifth consecutive Ms. Olympia title.

There are several other events beyond the typical Mr. and Ms. Olympia competitions.

The other men’s events are 212 Olympia, Men’s Physique Olympia, Classic Physique Olympia and Wheelchair Olympia.

The other events for women are Figure Olympics, Fitness Olympics, Bikini Olympics, Women’s Physique Olympics, Wellness Olympics and Wheelchair Olympics.

The total amount has not yet been announced, but it is expected to break last year’s record of $1.6 million.

The money will be divided among the first place winners. In 2023, Lunsford took home $400,000, while the second and third place finishers earned $150,000 and $100,000, respectively.
