Kevin Bacon shares his 20 favorite horror films

Since we’re almost into October, I’m sure many of you have already seen more than a few horror movies (as if you needed an excuse), but it’s always fun to see what other people recommend for spooky season . Kevin Bacon, I believe has appeared in several horror films and shared a list of twenty of his personal favorites on Instagram.

  • Audition
  • Don’t look now
  • A cut of the dead
  • Dawn of the Dead (1978)
  • Shaun of the Dead
  • 28 days later
  • Exit
  • A girl walks home alone at night
  • Let the right person in
  • X
  • pearl
  • MaXXXine
  • The witch
  • The love witch
  • The Blair Witch Project
  • The descent
  • Slide
  • Midsummer
  • martyr
  • Hereditary
  • Smile
  • Turmoil of echoes

A quality list, and as you can see, bacon appears in some of them. Bacon’s most recent horror film was MaXXXinewhich appears in the list next to it X And pearl. In it he plays a sleazy private detective who wants to blackmail Maxine Minx (Mia Goth).

Bacon, who started first Friday the 13th Film, has previously explained why he enjoys the horror genre so much. “When a new horror film piques my interest, I’m the center of attention on opening weekend… I like the experience because when I go into a film as a… consumer, I want to feel things. Whatever it is, I want to feel things deeply,“Bacon told Looper in 2022.”You can be sad. Tears may flow from your eyes. You can laugh hysterically. You can jump. You can get scared. You can get scared there. You can leave the theater feeling uneasy. These are feelings and I like that. … I like doing horror because the stakes are very high and that means there are good things to play for. In life and death situations, these are good things to play.

As for Bacon’s dire future, his next project could be a family affair. Kyra Sedgwick announced this summer that she and Bacon were developing a horror film in which they would star alongside their daughter Sosie. They also want to make the film together, but the DGA couldn’t cooperate. “It’s very hard to get dual directing credit. If you promise the DGA that you will only direct together for the rest of your lives, they will be more inclined to do so. But if not, they won’t,said Sedgwick. “We’ll find out. But I am very strategic. I wonder if more people will see this if it’s a Kevin Bacon movie than a Kyra Sedgwick movie?
