The Illinois Fighting Illini outlasted the Purdue Boilermakers 50-49 in overtime to win the Week 7 college football game at Memorial Stadium.

Illinois (5-1) was coming off a bye week and ranked No. 23 in both the USA TODAY US LBM Coaches Poll and the latest Associated Press national rankings.

Purdue (1-5) gave Illinois all it could handle, rallying from a 27-3 third-quarter deficit to force overtime.

The Boilermakers need just two plays to score and pull within 50-49. Purdue tried to win the game, but its two-point conversion failed. Ryan Browne fell back, got up and was released to end the threat.

Luke Altmyer Hit Pat Bryant for a 25-yard touchdown pass on the first play of overtime. What a throw. David Olano gives the Fighting Illini a 50-43 lead.

Battle against Illini kickers David Olano hits a 38-yard field goal to tie the game at 43-43 and send the game to overtime. The kick was set up by a big catch from Hank Beatty.

After recovering the onside kick, Purdue drives down and Devin Mockobee intercepts the starting shot for the touchdown with a throw Ryan Browne.

The Boilermakers recovered an onside kick and have the ball and all three timeouts.

Devin Mockobee dives from 2 yards out to pull the Boilermakers within five points with 95 seconds left. Purdue still has all three timeouts left.

With two minutes left, Purdue has the ball and is threatening to get within one score. Boilermaker QB Ryan Browne developed a solid drive and threatened Purdue. Brown threw for 238 of his 247 yards in the second half.

The struggling Illini respond as Josh McCray He scored his third touchdown of the day with 5:05 left. The TD was set up from another key run Luke Altmyer and a big third-down catch by McCray early in the drive.

After a penalty, the Illini attempted an 18-yard, two-point conversion attempt – but the pass failed.

Ryan Browne finds Jaron Tibbs for an 8-yard touchdown to put the Boilermakers up 34-26 — and then added the two-point conversion to make it 34-28 at 10:35 of the fourth quarter.

quarterback Luke Altmyer took matters into his own hands on this drive, rushing for a 13-yard touchdown to give the Fighting Illini a two-touchdown lead again early in the fourth quarter. Altmyer also had runs of 22 and 37 yards on the drive to set up the TD.

The Boilermakers used a flea-flicker to set up a 62-yard pass connection Ryan Browne to the close end Max Clearwhich was completely open after the flea flicker of the double handover.

Purdue is shut out inside the 10, but pulls within 27-20 after the 24-yard field goal Spencer Porath.

The Boilermakers are back in this game. Nyland Green sacked Illinois’ QB Luke Altmyerforces a fumble, which is picked up by Will Heldt and gained 16 yards for a score. Illinois still leads 27-17 but is on the ropes for the first time today.

Purdue scores its first touchdown in two weeks, getting a 53-yard reception from Jahmal Edrine, who stretches for a TD in the final yards. The call was granted after an official review. This is the Boilermakers’ first touchdown since September 28 against Nebraska.

David Olano extended the Fighting Illini lead to 27-3 with a 49-yard field goal into the wind that easily cleared the uprights. Olano pumped his fist after the make.

Illinois scored two goals in the final 90 seconds of play, this time off a short pass Luke Altmyer To Josh McCray 19 seconds before the end of the second quarter. The five-play, 25-yard drive puts the Illini in control.

Luke Altmyer finds Zakhari Franklin for a 27-yard pass on third-and-20 – and an incredible conversion – to get to the Purdue 10 in the final minute of the first half.

Illinois gets the ball back as the kickoff gets caught in the wind and is recovered by Luke Zardzin with some sort of unexpected onside kick.

Luke Altymer fakes the handoff, rolls to the right and finds Zakhari Franklin for a wide-open touchdown with 1:56 left before halftime — and Illinois increased its lead.

The Illini have had four straight first downs and are threatening to extend their lead before halftime, now inside the red zone.

Dylan Rosiek makes an open field tackle to stop Purdue, who settled for a 22-yard field goal after going first-and-goal from the 4. The score was set by a 34-run drive from Devin Mockobee that brought the Boilers inside the 5th.

Illini QB Luke Altmyer threw for 111 yards in the first quarter to give Illinois a 10-0 lead over Purdue. This is a career high for Altmyer.

Purdue is now 1-for-4 converting third downs, and Illinois forces another punt – this one returned 24 yards by the former Rochester High star Hank Beatty. If Illinois can score on this possession, it will take control of this game.

QB Luke Alymyer Hit Pat Bryant for a 29-yard pass, then another 18-yarder, and Illinois caps the drive with an 11-yard touchdown run for Josh McCray. Eight plays, 73 yards on the scoring drive just before the quarter change.

David Olano hits a 30-yard field goal to give the Illini a 3-0 lead with 6:04 left in the first quarter.

Purdue turned the ball over on downs after eating with nearly three minutes left. Illinois takes the lead for the first time and we take a look at the Illini without starting at running back Kaden Feagin.

Frank Williams is among the headliners of the University of Illinois’ newest Sports Hall of Fame class, inducted Friday at a ceremony at the State Farm Center. They are also expected to be featured at the game today.

Illinois running back Kaden Feagin was listed as unavailable in the Big Ten availability report. The reason is not stated.

Feagin leads Illinois with 306 yards and three touchdowns. Josh McCray And Aiden Laughery should see more work against Purdue.
